About Intel Platform Trust Technology
Intel Platform Trust Technology (Intel PTT) is a hardware-integrated firmware Trusted Platform Module (fTPM 2.0) architecture embedded directly within Intel Core, Xeon, and Pentium system processors and chipsets. Designed to deliver complete TPM 2.0 capabilities without requiring a discrete, dedicated physical TPM microchip on the computer motherboard, Intel PTT provides a cryptographically secure hardware root of trust that enables essential endpoint security technologies such as Microsoft Windows BitLocker full-disk encryption, Windows Hello biometric authentication, and Secure Boot. Operating within Intel’s secure execution environment (Intel Converged Security and Management Engine - CSME), Intel PTT secures sensitive cryptographic keys, digital certificates, and platform measurements against software-based attacks, memory scraping, and unauthorized extraction. The technology performs platform integrity measurements during the boot sequence, verifying that the UEFI firmware, bootloader, and core operating system components have not been altered or compromised by rootkits or malware before unlocking encrypted storage drives. Intel PTT enables computer manufacturers and enterprise IT organizations to enforce hardware-based endpoint encryption and cryptographic security standards across laptops, desktops, and industrial systems at reduced manufacturing costs.
