Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 for Families

Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 for Families is an automated public DNS resolution and threat filtering service designed to protect home networks, remote workers, and small offices against malicious web destinations and adult content directly at the DNS protocol layer. Built upon Cloudflare globally distributed Anycast network spanning more than 330 cities worldwide, 1.1.1.1 for Families delivers ultra-fast DNS lookups while simultaneously blocking access to known phishing domains, malware distribution servers, command-and-control backends, and exploit kits before any network connection is established.

The service provides two distinct, easy-to-deploy protection tiers accessible via standard IPv4 and IPv6 Anycast resolver addresses: Malware Blocking Only (1.1.1.2 and 1.0.0.2) and Malware plus Adult Content Blocking (1.1.1.3 and 1.0.0.3). Operating without requiring any local software installation, 1.1.1.1 for Families can be configured directly on edge Wi-Fi routers, home firewalls, operating system network settings, or via the lightweight Cloudflare WARP client application. It supports modern encrypted DNS protocols, including DNS over HTTPS (DoH) and DNS over TLS (DoT), preventing internet service providers and eavesdroppers on public Wi-Fi from snooping on user browsing requests.

Primary deployment use cases include shielding family devices against accidental phishing and malware encounters, establishing safe internet browsing environments for schools and home-schooling setups, and providing zero-maintenance perimeter filtering for micro-businesses. Because it operates on Cloudflare global network, 1.1.1.1 for Families ensures exceptional DNS resolution performance and privacy, adhering to strict no-logging data retention commitments.
